Event Details

When irreconcilable differences occur in a new home or remodeling construction project, how are they resolved?
Do you go to court?
Do you mediate?
Do you arbitrate?
What does your contract say and, importantly, why?

In Arbitration: How Do You Choose, When Do You Use, long-time construction professional and arbitrator Tom Gotschall will help you understand the dispute resolution processes and, for those who use arbitration clauses, how to better understand the process.

What is Arbitration? Why Arbitration? How do you Choose?
The Agreement to Arbitrate, Laws Governing Arbitration, When Do You Use Arbitration?

As a bonus, we’ll even do an in-session mock arbitration, so the participants can get a bit of a “feel” for the process “live”.

This course is ideal for business and property owners, contract staff, construction attorneys, field management as well as sales professionals.

Facilitator Tom Gotschall is a partner in Construction Arbitration Associates in Alpharetta. Tom is a seasoned arbitrator and a dynamic instructor and speaker on a host of construction topics. He has certifications in the Residential Code and the Building Code, he was part of the team that recently updated the NAHB Construction Contracts and Law course, and he is certified to teach numerous NAHB classes. Tom graduated from Georgia Tech in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction and has a background in general contracting and construction & real estate dispute resolution.

This session qualifies under the rules of the Georgia State Licensing Board for Residential and General Contractors for three (3) continuing education credit hours.

CREDIT NOTE: Any session which qualifies for credit hours under the rules of the Georgia State Licensing Board for Residential and General Contractors or Georgia Real Estate credit requires the participant to attend the FULL session in order to receive credit.
